He Ain’t Heavy, He’s Just Irresponsible

Jill Taylor (Patricia Richardson) is furious at Tim Taylor (Tim Allen) when he puts a huge hole in the floor trying to install a central vacuum in the basement. Tim is spared from her wrath when his brother Marty (William O’Lelary) comes to visit — but when Tim learns that Marty is thinking of leaving his wife just six months after she gave birth to twins, he’s so upset at him that they have a terrible fight. In conversation with Wilson (Earl Hindman), Tim realizes that he’s always been like a brother and a father (or frother) to Marty, but what Marty really needs now is a brother and friend (brend) who will listen to him. The next time he sees Marty, Tim sits and listens to his troubles, and is able to give him helpful advice about marriage and childrearing.

The Great Race II (1994) | Home Improvement

The Great Race II

Despite Jill’s (Patricia Richardson) nonstop efforts for the past three years, the library is still somehow $1000 short on funds. In response, Jill holds a Tool Man auction on Tool Time — where Bob Vila makes a surprise appearance, bringing in $700, whereas Tim (Tim Allen) only goes for $300 when Jill bids on him herself. Emasculated and frustrated at once again being bested by Bob Vila, Tim challenges Vila to a race in their newly-completed hot rods. Tim’s nerves are frayed as he rushes to get his hot rod running in time for the race, but with a little help and wisdom from Wilson (Earl Hindman) he’s able to complete his hot rod after three years of work — and be happy about it despite losing yet another race to Bob Vila.

What You See Is What You Get

When Jill (Patricia Richardson) tells Tim (Tim Allen) a story about a woman who got extensive plastic surgery after her husband left her, she’s shocked at Tim’s callous reaction. Things don’t improve when she brings home a computer program that allows users to modify photographs of their bodies, which Tim promptly uses to blow up her breasts and shrink her waist. After a conversation with Wilson (Earl Hindman) about inner beauty, Tim makes amends by getting Jill a refurbished dining room table.

Meanwhile, Mark (Taran Noah Smith) repeatedly beats Brad (Zachary Ty Bryan) and Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) at a variety of games.
