The Great Race

The Great Race

Tool Time has run a poll amongst its audience to vote on their favorite guest star: George Foreman, Mario and Michael Andretti, or Dwayne from K&B Construction. The result, to Tim's surprise, was Bob Vila, who received 112 write-in votes. Making his second appearance on the show, Bob more or less challenges Tim to a lawnmower race for charity. Tim supes up his already suped up mower with a helicopter engine and enters the race…

Let’s Did LunchSeason Two, Episode Ten

Let's Did Lunch (1992) | Home Improvement

Let’s Did Lunch

For the last few weeks, Dave and Karen have been dating and getting fairly serious (as first seen in Heavy Meddle). But when they visit Tim and Jill, Dave takes Tim aside and asks him to say that they had lunch together the day before. Why? Because Dave doesn’t feel the same level of commitment as Karen, and has been seeing someone else on the side. This puts Tim in an awkward position over whether or not to tell Jill, and by proxy Karen, or to stay true to his friendship with Dave, and play along. Before long, Jill discovers Tim’s secret, and she turns cold toward Dave, who blames Tim for not keeping up the facade.

Meanwhile, on Tool Time, Al is challenged to a blindfolded wood sniffing contest, and the Taylor boys continue their turf war against some neighborhood kids.

Where There's a Will, There's a Way (1992) | Home Improvement

Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way

Jill has been going over the personal paperwork, and realizes that her and Tim need to update their will. Tim, immediately concerned by the implications of literally signing his life away, gets in his head about it, and refuses to sign, or even discuss it.

Presently, Mark overhears Tim expressing his concerns to Wilson, and becomes scared that he’s going to lose his father. After a father-son heart-to-heart conversation, Tim finally agrees to sign the updated will.

Meanwhile, Al is building a cabin by hand and invites the Al Borland Fan Club to attend a screening of Tool Time.

May the Best Man Win (1992) | Home Improvement

May the Best Man Win

When Mr. Binford elopes with a model, he puts his busybody daughter Maureen (Vicki Lewis) in charge of “Tool Time” – much to the chagrin of Tim (Tim Allen), who has been running the show for years. Maureen’s meddlesome nature leads her to alter the plans for the house they’re renovating on the show and start making Al (Richard Karn) wear Hawaiian shirts, and there’s nothing Tim can do.

Jill (Patricia Richardson), meanwhile, has gotten a new job and couldn’t be more excited. With Jill, Wilson (Earl Hindman) and even the boys too busy to give him advice, Tim is at a loss – until he comes up with a plan to send Maureen out of town to get her out of their hair.

Roomie for ImprovementSeason Two, Episode Seven

Roomie For Improvement (1992) | Home Improvement

Roomie for Improvement

Uh oh! Mark has the chicken pox, and Tim has never had them, so Jill packs his bags and sends him off to stay with Al for a few days. Tim, however, finds this to be quite a chore, especially considering Al’s overzealousness for planned meals and activities. After one night of watching Al’s home movies, Tim is ready to move into a hotel, but is afraid that he’ll hurt Al’s feelings. This is ultimately moot because on Tool Time, Tim plays a game with guests Mario and Michael Andretti to guess the sounds of revving engines, and pranks Al by including a recording of his snoring. Al expresses his upsettiness to Tim back at home, leading to a brief row, to which Tim apologizes and helps mend by putting in a good word with Al’s neighbor who has a crush on him.

Haunting of Taylor House (1992) | Home Improvement

Haunting of Taylor House

It’s Halloween, the Taylor’s favorite holiday! This year, they are hosting a costume party for Brad and his friends, and everybody is pitching in. Brad, however, is rueful that he agreed to dress as Raggedy Andy to match the costume of Jenny Sudarsky as Raggedy Ann. However, once the party starts, Jenny arrives with Danny, another boy from school, and a bit of an asshole, both dressed as bikers. Embarrassed and angry, Brad storms outside to stew. With the help of Tim, Brad decides to talk to Jenny, and make up.

Later, Jill guides the kids through a tour of the haunted basement, where Tim, Al, and Wilson exact their revenge on Danny.

Heavy MeddleSeason Two, Episode Five

Heavy Meddle (1992) | Home Improvement

Heavy Meddle

This week, Tim is finally ready to drop the engine into the chasey of his hot rod, and invites a few friends over to help him. Al finds out, and is a little disappointed he wasn’t invited because his girlfriend, Greta Post, has just dumped him. Tim extends the invitation, and their friendship grows a millimeter larger.

At home, Karen is visiting, also reeling from a recent breakup and ready to Just Say No to men. Jill sees this as an opportunity to introduce Karen to Tim’s hunky friend Dave – much to the chagrin of Tim, who doesn’t want to be disturbed while working on the hot rod. However, it all goes off the rails as all of Tim’s friends bring their wives, and Karen and Dave hit it off.

Meanwhile, the kids are engaged in some sort of domestic dispute with some neighborhood boys.

Groin PainsSeason Two, Episode Four

Groin Pains (1992) | Home Improvement

Groin Pains

Jill Taylor is doing some cleaning around the house, and has found a chest filled with romance novels. Wanting to prove he’s every bit the man as the novels fetishize, Tim attempts to lift the heavy book-filled trunk to show off his rippling muscles. This backfires when Tim pulls his favorite man-muscle. Not wanting to fess up for fear of seeming inferior to the fictional studs, Tim keeps his injury a secret – much to the chagrin of himself.

Overactive Glance (1992) | Home Improvement

Overactive Glance

On This Episode of Home Improvement…

It’s date night for Tim and Jill Taylor, and our best friend Karen is over to babysit the kids for the night. Before they leave for their date, Jill and Karen catch a segment of Tool Time where Tim casts a salacious glance at a female guest. Karen, always quick with the commentary on feminism and patriarchal values, points this out and berates Tim for it. This causes Jill to challenge Tim to not look at a single woman while on their date. This all comes crashing down with a bombshell named Kiki arrives and asks Tim for an autograph.

Meanwhile, Randy is upset that he has small hands and is bad at the sports.

Has Landen found love? A surprising development for the theory that Al Borland is a secret spy, and Truman deals with Gruntgate 2017.

Rites and Wrongs of Passage

Rites and Wrongs of Passage (1992) | Home Improvement

Rites and Wrongs of Passage

On This Episode of Home Improvement…

Tim bought tickets for him and the boys to see a good old-fashioned monster truck show — but when a group of older boys at school begin encouraging Brad to pull pranks and run afoul of the police, Tim and Jill ground him and Tim forbids him to go see the monster trucks. In response, Brad gets even more mouthy and rebellious. Wilson explains to Tim that Brad is acting out because he’s caught between adolescence and manhood, a situation tribal societies avoided by inducting boys with the rites of manhood. In response, Tim lets Brad use a blowtorch while working on their hot rod and anoints him with motor oil to celebrate his transformation into the ‘man-child.’

Meanwhile, Tim’s mouth gets him in trouble when a local Scotsman challenges him to participate in the Kaber Toss at the local Highland games – an ancient Scottish tradition in which men pick up a giant log and throw it as far as they can. When a kilt-clad Tim attempts this at the games, he instead chucks the log clear through the window of Al’s lovingly restored ’84 Mercury Marquis station wagon.

On This Episode of Grunt Work…

Truman and Landen experience slight audio issues; begin to explore the outer reaches of the Jerryverse, the life and work of the inept Tool Time producer; and debate whether or not the two boys who coerce Brad’s bad deeds are indeed Bob and Stinky, and whether or not Stinky is, in fact, George W. Bush.

Read My Hips

On This Episode of Home Improvement…

Jill has planned a surprise, special evening alone for her and Tim, but while he’s out with the boys, he doesn’t pick up on her subtle signals to come home. This leads to Jill feeling rejected and upset that Tim doesn’t invest himself in communicating. With a little help from Wilson, Tim dons a phone repairman’s outfit, and role plays his way back into Jill’s good graces.

Meanwhile, Brad and Jenny Sudarsky are about to have their first kiss.

On This Episode of Grunt Work…

Truman and Landen dive into season two with a bang! Or rather, some flames. Truman does his patented Andy Rooney impression, they question Tim’s method of dealing with criticism, and continue to question how the producers run the Tool Time set.
