This week, Tim is finally ready to drop the engine into the chasey of his hot rod, and invites a few friends over to help him. Al finds out, and is a little disappointed he wasn’t invited because his girlfriend, Greta Post, has just dumped him. Tim extends the invitation, and their friendship grows a millimeter larger.

At home, Karen is visiting, also reeling from a recent breakup and ready to Just Say No to men. Jill sees this as an opportunity to introduce Karen to Tim’s hunky friend Dave – much to the chagrin of Tim, who doesn’t want to be disturbed while working on the hot rod. However, it all goes off the rails as all of Tim’s friends bring their wives, and Karen and Dave hit it off.

Meanwhile, the kids are engaged in some sort of domestic dispute with some neighborhood boys.

Tanya, thank you so much for your question. This REALLY stumped us. We’ve went back to the tapes, and we’re addressing it on a future episode (“A Frozen Moment”, released August 7th, 2018). The short answer we have is that even if it was intended to be grunting-dialogue, that it ultimately must be counted as primitive-man gibberish.

That said, the subtitling committee seems to agree with our assessment, as this is the closed caption direct from Hulu:

      Tim Allen, Heavy Meddle

About Grunt Work
Grunt Work is a comedy podcast where each week we cover an episode of the TV show ‘Home Improvement’.

But it’s so much more than that; it’s an examination of masculinity, a time capsule, and “metaphor for how we live[d] in the 90s”. Often, it’s a descent into madness.
