Binford offers to pay for the Taylors to remodel their master bathroom on the condition that they are able to turn it into a special on-location episode of Tool Time. Jill is hesitant at first, but acquiesces when she learns she will be receiving a new jacuzzi style bathtub. Originally slated for a two-part episode, Tim’s ineptitude quickly creates one disaster after another, and soon Tim finds himself eighteen days into the project with no water, a hole in the side of the house, and a wife who has taken the kids to a hotel.

On this episode of Grunt Work…

Start rehearsing, it’s a Alejandro González Iñárritu heavy episode of Grunt Work where Tim renovates the master bathroom, Landen goes off the rails with theories, and Truman reveals early experience with girls.

Brad and Randy don’t want Mark hanging around, and do everything they can to ditch him, including convincing him that they and their parents are blood sucking aliens. Tim and Jill decide this needs to be addressed – Jill wants to handle this through good ol’ fashioned parenting, and Tim wants to prank them back.

Meanwhile, at Tool Time, the K&B Construction guys make their first appearance to demonstrate to Tim and Al their unique method for cooking on the job.

On this out-of-this-world episode of Grunt Work…

Brad and Randy convince Mark that everyone in the family are blood sucking aliens, Truman proves to be competition for Jill “The Princess of Pop”, Landen mourns Richard Kiel in a moment of silence, and we all learn the benefits of a good ol’ fashioned prank.

Oops! Jill forgets to fill the car with oil despite the light being on for three days. Tim, feeling disrespected, airs his grievances live on Tool Time with two audience members, and takes it a step too far when also makes fun of Jill drooling in her sleep. She of course sees this unfold on television, and confronts Tim about it. Inviting the two gentlemen back a second time, Tim holds a Tool Time powwow about sensitivity, and does what he can to make it up to his wife.

On this episode of Grunt Work…

Does everybody know what time it is? It’s finally Tool Time on a very sensitive episode of Home Improvement. Tim and Jill learn to respect each other’s feelings, while Truman monologues, Landen laments the closing of the iconic Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, and the guys pitch an Al spinoff show.

On This Episode of Home Improvement…

After the boys get the Taylor family thrown out of a restaurant for unruly behavior, Jill wages a bet with Tim whether or not he can whip them into perfect gentlemen for one family meal. The bet? If Tim cannot reform the boy’s behavior for one single evening, that he would have to take her to the opera (AHHHH!).

On a very classy episode of Grunt Work…

Truman and Landen dwell on microwaves, pitch a Frasier/Home Improvement crossover movie, and Truman finally concedes to the brilliance of Taran Noah Smith’s performance. Can Tim tame his unruly boys? Will Tim be forced to go to the opera with Jill? Is Wilson God? Did Landen have a stroke while recording?

On This Episode of Home Improvement…

It’s a brisk autumn day, and Jill is cold. She sends Tim and the boys to the basement to check on the furnace. As they do, they hear a rustling that they think is a mouse. Tim uses this to joyfully torment Jill, but when Randy discovers a shed snakeskin, Tim stops laughing, and calls an exterminator.

Meanwhile, Mark’s Cub Scout troop has a meeting at the house, and a young member has trouble facing his fears. Tim inspires him to grunt in the face of fear. However, when the exterminator fails to find the snake, Tim must confront his own fears, and extract the snake on his own…

Sssaddle up for a very slithery episode of Grunt Work…

Truman and Landen confront their fears of dark basements, mouth spiders, and Boy Scout bullies. New evidence presents itself for the theory that Wilson is, in fact, God, and Landen drops a handful of Michigan snake facts!

On This Episode of Home Improvement…

With a new satellite in hand, Tim looks for help installing it, but finds that everyone is busy, and must go it alone. Meanwhile, Jill has invites over Rondall (Sam McMurray), her instructor from her job training class, to advise her on her resumé. Despite her pleas to the contrary, Tim becomes convinced that Randall is hitting on Jill, and rigs the pulley system, Tim hangs himself from the roof to keep an eye on the situation.

In a very confessional episode of Grunt Work…

Landen divulges how Pamela Anderson and Playboy Magazine lead to his teenage crush on Sandra Bullock, Truman lets us know where to find fan fiction, and they wax nostalgic about the pantheon of creeps that guest star Sam McMurray played in the 80s and 90s.

Grunt Work is a comedy podcast where each week we cover an episode of the TV show ‘Home Improvement’.

But it’s so much more than that; it’s an examination of masculinity, a time capsule, and “metaphor for how we live[d] in the 90s”. Often, it’s a descent into madness.

Is Grunt Work for You?
We recommend our show for listeners who enjoy comedic takes on pop culture, often veering into the obscure and highfalutin; the perfect blend of stupidity and wit.
