This Week on Home Improvement…

When Tim Taylor (Tim Allen) finds out he’s getting an honorary PhD from Western Michigan University, he’s thrilled. Jill (Patricia Richardson), who’s burning the midnight oil to get a graduate degree, and Wilson (Earl Hindman), who toiled hard to get his PhD, are significantly less excited. But Tim’s gloating comes to a quick end when he finds out that the only reason he’s being given the award is because the university thinks a celebrity like him will be a good fundraiser. Also, Tim gets into some trouble with mousetraps.

This Week on Home Improvement…

Tim is obsessed over developing new ideas to pitch to an affiliate with the hopes of acquiring a time slot in Chicago. But this has put a cramp in his and Jill’s love life, as they haven’t had sexy times in a month. To help rectify this, they agree to go away on a romantic weekend to an authentic Japanese hotel – however Bud decides to schedule the affiliate meeting at the same time in the hotel’s bar, and Tim is afraid to tell Jill.

This week on Grunt Work: Nights…

By request, Truman and Landen discuss languages! Landen wanted to do the entire episode in Klingon, but Truman vetoed the idea in favor of English. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This Week on Home Improvement…

When Mark (Taran Noah Smith) and Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) can’t stop fighting, Tim (Tim Allen) decides to build Randy a new bedroom in the basement as a Tool Time special. Randy is psyched to get his own bachelor pad downstairs – until his first night down there, when he’s so freaked out by the creepy basement noises that he has to flee to the living room couch with his pillow. Randy is too proud to admit he’s afraid to sleep downstairs – until Tim, with a little help from Wilson (Earl Hindman), realizes what’s going on and helps explain to Randy about the weird noises he’s hearing.

This Week on Home Improvement…

When Bud Harper offers Tim the chance to buy season tickets to the Pistons, he can’t pass up the chance, even though it means laying down $4,000 without consulting Jill. This, understandably, upsets Jill who suddenly transforms into the fabled unreasoning housewife monster who is capable of turning a man to liquid with a single look.

Tim survives this initial beastial encounter and regales the tale to the guys at the hardware store, who rally behind him as the knight that can slay the unreasoning housewife monster for the good of all men across the land of Manville.

This week on Grunt Work: Nights…

Truman and Landen discuss expectations vs. reality. In true to their fashion, Landen discusses the existential terror of a midlife crisis while Truman saves us all with lighter story about the disillusionment over a botched banquet dinner.

This Week on Home Improvement…

Tim (Tim Allen), Al (Richard Karn) and Jill (Patricia Richardson) reluctantly attend the cable awards on Halloween night, in spite of the fact that Cooking With Irma wins everything every year. With Mark (Taran Noah Smith) sick at home and no babysitter available, they ask Brad (Zachary Ty Bryan) and his smooth-talking friend Jason (Jarrad Paul) to stay home and take care of him. With the parents tied up at the awards show, Jason convinces Brad to throw a blowout party at the empty house – with disastrous results.

This Week on Home Improvement…

Jill comes home with an A on her recent psychology test and a confident bounce in her step, so when she encounters Burt, the father of Randy’s girlfriend, who explains that his wife drives him nuts when her parents are in town, Jill suggests that maybe his wife has never individuated from her parents. This leads Burt to get in an explosive fight with his wife, and sends Jill into a downward spiral of guilt and self-doubt of becoming a therapist.

This week on Grunt Work: Nights…

By request (and you can too!) Truman and Landen discuss the most controversial of topics. A topic so hot it could never be aired on television. A topic that once got Jimmy Carter banned from the entire Australian continent… MARCHING BAND.

Only one of us plays an instrument. Can you guess who before you listen?

About Grunt Work
Grunt Work is a comedy podcast where each week we cover an episode of the TV show ‘Home Improvement’.

But it’s so much more than that; it’s an examination of masculinity, a time capsule, and “metaphor for how we live[d] in the 90s”. Often, it’s a descent into madness.

Is Grunt Work for You?
We recommend our show for listeners who enjoy comedic takes on pop culture, often veering into the obscure and highfalutin; the perfect blend of stupidity and wit.

You may enjoy Grunt Work if you enjoy:
